Comments: This movie was a pretty cool example of Kevin Smith's fine writing and directorial style. However, in comparison to his previous work, Clerks, and the immediate "sequel", Chasing Amy, Mallrats seems, to me, to be too "Hollywood". That is, the independent flair which permeates the other films from Smith's Jersey Trilogy is noticeably missing. That is not to say Mallrats sucks. To the contrary. I only mean to say that this is a good film, but one that pales in comparison with the director's other works.
