Perky, but not obnoxious, this fantasy-comedy has many things to recommend it(an adept Reese Witherspoon in the lead, amusing set-pieces and developments)and just as many drawbacks(the leaden Luke Wilson as a potential boyfriend, too much cartoonish hamming).
